Together we can support life-saving humanitarian aid projects in Ukraine.
Since February 2022, SA2U has directly financed over 25 projects with aid partners in Ukraine, Switzerland and Germany and carried out 22 direct transports of humanitarian aid – over 150 tons of aid – from Switzerland to Ukraine. An overview of some of the projects and the extensive reporting material we receive from project partners is presented below.
Rehabilitation Camp “SviTy” with Kids of Ukraine
With EUR 5,000 raised by SA2U, we were delighted to support our aid partner Kids of Ukraine with their third recovery and rehabilitation day camp, SviTY, for refugee children. 25 teenagers were able to take part in the week-long camp, located in the Dzembronya village in the Carpathian mountains. Joy for Children in Kherson with HopeKeeper Foundation
With CHF 1,800 raised thanks to SA2U’s generous individual donors, aid partner HopeKeeper Foundation purchased school supplies for children in the Kherson region as well as test tubes for blood analyses by the Kherson Central Clinic. Camp for Kids in Truskavets with Ukraine Alive – Summer 2023

Aid to Kherson with HopeKeeper Foundation
With funds granted by ASVUC, SA2U’s aid partner HopeKeeper Foundation was able to complete several humanitarian aid projects in the Kherson region following the destruction of the Kakhovka dam and ensuing flooding in June 2023. The impact of these projects on the lives of over 5,000 people has been enormous.
VAC Supplies for Hospitals with SpunBond
With funds granted by ASVUC, the SpunBond Charity Foundation, which specializes in medical aid to Ukrainian clinics and hospitals, purchased urgently needed supplies for life-saving VAC devices for three Ukrainian hospitals in Kyiv, Uzhgorod, and Khmelnytskyi. Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) devices are essential in expediting wound healing and reducing hospitalization time.
Camp for Kids in Truskavets with Ukraine Alive
SA2U used part of a generous grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation to help finance Camp for Kids, a 1-week camp for children struggling with psychological challenges, hosted for the third time by Ukraine Alive. 121 children took part in the camp in the Ukrainian resort city Truskavets, Lviv region.
Generators for Hospitals with Ukraine Alive
SA2U helped finance the purchase of generators for three public hospitals in the Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions with funds totaling CHF 75,000 raised thanks to its “Gift of Warmth” winter aid campaign. These three institutions were identified as those most urgently in need and prioritized by Aid Partner Ukraine Alive.
“Gift of Warmth” campaign raises CHF 120,000
A little bit of comfort. A light in the darkness. A warm embrace. Thanks to your contributions, we were able to provide these and much more to people across Ukraine this winter. SA2U’s “Gift of Warmth” campaign raised almost CHF 120,000 for much-needed winter aid from generous individual and institutional donors.
Generator for Senior Home with Nasha Peremoga
With funds granted by the Association for the Support of Victims of the Ukraine Conflict (ASVUC), Ukrainian NGO Nasha Peremoga funded the purchase of a generator and fuel for 50 residents and 30 staff members of a home for the elderly and disabled in the village of Peremoha, Kyiv Oblast.
Generators for Slavuta with Kviten Association
With CHF 35,000 raised through its “Gift of Warmth” winter aid campaign, SA2U supported the Slavuta City Hospital and Gymnasium (High School) No. 5. Kviten Association put the funds to good use through the purchase of generators for these institutions to ensure that both excellent medical care and education can continue.
Kherson Aid with Ilona Malytska
Ilona Malytska, SA2U’s most trusted supporter in the Odessa and Kherson regions, distributed aid together with her team and husband to IDPs and low-income families living near the front lines in Kherson. The funds were generously granted by the Association for the Support of Victims of the Ukraine Conflict (ASVUC).
Warmth and light with DobraDia
SA2U supported aid partner DobraDia with the purchase of generators and power stations to provide warmth and power for hospitals and centers for people with disabilities in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. The funds were generously granted by the Association for the Support of Victims of the Ukraine Conflict (ASVUC).
Power station for a family in Mykolaiv
SA2U supported the Stasch family, living in a small village near Mykolaiv, with the purchase of a power station for charging devices and generating electricity. The power station is powered by a solar panel that the family also sourced, meaning they are no longer at the mercy of electrical outages.
Doing bright things with TOLK
SA2U used CHF 1,000 of the funds raised through its recent “Gift of Warmth” initiative for winter aid to support Ukrainian electrical company TOLK’s “Do bright things!” campaign. With this amount, SA2U was able to pay the outstanding electricity bills and give light and peace of mind to 180 families.
Aid to Bakhmut with Ukraine Alive
CHF 5,000 of the funds raised through SA2U’s “Gift of Warmth” winter aid campaign was donated to our aid partner Ukraine Alive 2022 to provide urgent humanitarian aid in the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Bakhmut is the epicenter of some of the heaviest bombing and fighting in Ukraine.
Helping children in Odesa with Kviten
With funds generously granted by the Association for the Support of Victims of the Ukraine Conflict (ASVUC), SA2U helped its Swiss-based aid partner Kviten Association purchase medicine for children undergoing intensive care at the Odesa Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. The medicine was purchased from a local distributor in Dnipro, Ukraine.
Generators for Kharkiv with Help Ukraine Today
SA2U supported Kharkiv-based NGO Help Ukraine Today with CHF 4,300 for the purchase of 7 generators for “points of invincibility” in Kharkiv. The points are shelters for residents, equipped with generators, wood-burning stoves, food and basic medicine. The generators helped keep the shelters warm and running through the winter months.
Wintering together in Kharkiv with Kviten Association
SA2U donated a total of EUR 3,517 in December 2022 and January 2023 to support “Wintering together,” a project by the Rotary Club New Level Kharkiv with support from Kviten Association. This project provides volunteers in Kharkiv with a warm, safe and inviting community center over the tough winter period.
Grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation
In August 2022, SA2U was thrilled to receive a grant from the Hamburg-based Ingeborg Gross Foundation (IGF) for CHF 150,000 for projects supporting Ukrainian people, in particular students, children, and orphans. The following is an overview of how the funds received have been used as of the end of 2022.
Swiss Aid Scholarships in 2022
Throughout 2022, SA2U used part of a generous grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation to support Ukrainian students enrolled in institutions of higher education in Switzerland or Germany. The “Swiss Aid Scholarship” helped students purchase school supplies such as laptops, books, or basic necessities. Eleven students were supported in 2022.
A new home in Switzerland with Era Band Home
SA2U used part of a generous grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation to help finance the living expenses of five teenagers who had lost a parent in the war and who decided to stay in Switzerland, at a boarding house in Leysin, after participating in Era Band Camp in October
Medicine for Kherson with Kviten Association
SA2U partnered with Kviten Association to order medication for the Kherson Regional Cardiology Clinic following the liberation of the city of Kherson in November 2022. CHF 4,000 was used to purchase commonly used heart medication that was in short supply at the clinic. Yet another successful project with Kviten! Aid
Warmth for Children with Children of Heroes
SA2U used part of a generous grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation to support the Children of Heroes fund with the purchase of warm clothes for Ukrainian children who have emigrated to Germany. All of the kids Children of Heroes supports have lost one or both parents in the war.
Helping IDPs in Odesa with Ilona Malytska
SA2U supported Ilona Malytska, our most trusted volunteer, in cooperation with Kviten Association, with EUR 5,000 for the purchase of winter aid. A shelter in the village of Chernomorka in Odesa region, housing 58 IDP families, including 23 children, received two generators, and residents received “boxes of heat and light”.
Warming up Kharkiv with Kviten Association
SA2U supported its Swiss-based aid partner Kviten Association with the purchase of 8 wood-burning stoves for the Kharkiv Youth City Council. The stoves were installed in warm shelters used by first responders in between missions. They burn a variety of wood, require no electricity, and can be used for cooking.
Era Band Camp in the Swiss Alps
SA2U used part of a generous grant from the Ingeborg Gross Foundation to help finance an educational and rehabilitation camp in the Swiss Alps for Ukrainian teenagers particularly affected by the war. Era Band Camp ran three times in 2022, welcoming 30 participants each time for a variety of activities.
Food for Kharkiv with Kviten Association
SA2U supported its Swiss-based aid partner Kviten Association in providing critical assistance to Kharkiv residents preparing for the impending winter. Funds donated to the Rotary Club New Level Kharkiv were used for the purchase of 6,129 cans of sardines for basic food packages which were distributed to over 600 people.
Integration and solidarity through sports
With funds generously granted by the Ingeborg Gross Foundation, SA2U supported Judo Club Uster with its initiative #noborders Judo Zürich to train Ukrainian judoka in the area. This project continues in 2023 with a focus on training and career development in judo and further integration into the Swiss judo community.
New blood storage refrigerators
SA2U’s first direct financing project was the purchase of 5 state-of-the art blood storage refrigerators for the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center. The Coordination Center acted as a centralized coordinator for the blood storage system and distributed the refrigerators to various hospitals around Ukraine in urgent need of the new equipment.
