CHF 5,000 of the funds raised through SA2U’s “Gift of Warmth” winter aid campaign was donated to our aid partner Ukraine Alive to provide urgent humanitarian aid in the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Bakhmut was the epicenter of some of the heaviest bombing and fighting in Ukraine, and the people who remained there were in desperate need.
| Aid Partner: | Ukraine Alive |
| Funds: | CHF 5,000 |
| Region: | Bakhmut, Donetsk |
| Aid provided: | Generators, fuel, disposable utensils, non-perishable food, medical supplies, and medications for “Points of Invincibility” |
| Beneficiaries: | Families and individuals remaining near the front lines in Bakhmut |
A team of volunteers from Ukraine Alive set up three “Points of Invincibility” in Bakhmut – community hubs that provide people with light, an opportunity to charge devices, Internet access, water, and food. The donated funds were used to purchase generators, fuel, disposable utensils, non-perishable food, medical supplies, and medications to ensure the continued operation of these vital hubs.
SA2U was one of several donor organizations that made this aid possible. We join the project coordinator in his hopes that the aid to families and people who remain near the front lines will give them a little bit of happiness and comfort.
