SA2U helped finance the purchase of generators for three public hospitals in the Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions with funds totaling CHF 75,000 raised thanks to its “Gift of Warmth” winter aid campaign. These three institutions were identified as those most urgently in need and prioritized by Aid Partner Ukraine Alive.
Aid Partner: | Ukraine Alive |
Funds: | CHF 75,000 |
Regions: | Chernihiv, Kharkiv |
Aid provided: | Two 170kW generators and one 150kW generator |
Beneficiaries: | Communal Non-Profit Enterprise Snovska Central District Hospital of Snovska District, Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the Kharkiv Region and Regional Clinical Specialized Dispensary for Radiation Protection of the Population in Kharkiv |
The three hospitals that benefited from the assistance are as follows:
The Communal Non-Profit Enterprise Snovska Central District Hospital of Snovska District in the Chernihiv Region received a 150kW generator to ensure the continued treatment of patients even in instances of shelling and disconnections from the city’s power network. This generator provides electricity for: a polyclinic, therapy and surgical building, intensive care unit, catering department, laundry, sterilization office, boiler room, warehouses, and hospital garages.
The State Institution “Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the Kharkiv Region” gained a 170kW generator, enabling it to connect the “computer tomograph” to continue performing important scans and determine necessary treatment for patients, even during power outages. The generator also maintains lighting in critical areas of the hospital.
The Regional Clinical Specialized Dispensary for Radiation Protection of the Population in Kharkiv acquired a 170kW generator, allowing the hospital to continue receiving patients and to carry out diagnostics and physiotherapy despite shelling or electricity surges.
All generators were connected to respective power grids and tested in the presence of the hospital acceptance committees and volunteers on the ground from Ukraine Alive. Each generator guarantees a supply of 1000 motor hours. Videos capture the testing to ensure full transparency and also show the pride that the installation crew takes in their work. It may be a simple flip of a breaker on video but, in practice, that one motion ensures that the lights stay on, care is uninterrupted, and countless lives can be helped and even saved.
