This partnership with the Kids of Ukraine Charity Foundation worked on two levels at once: strengthening pediatric medical care, and providing continuous psychological support for children and teenagers affected by the war.
Ophthalmic ultrasound for a children’s hospital
SA2U funded a modern ophthalmic ultrasound scanner (Scanmate Flex DGH) for the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Children’s Hospital, where fast, accurate diagnostics can be decisive in preserving a child’s sight. Its value showed immediately: after a hostile attack, a young girl was admitted with a foreign body in her eye and severe corneal injuries, and a team of pediatric specialists used the equipment to guide her treatment.
SviTy centres: space to recover
War affects not only physical health but also the ability to feel safe, learn and connect. From October to December 2025, SA2U covered three months of psychologists’ work at the “SviTy” centres in Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy, where children and teenagers find a safe space, group support and individual sessions. Across the three months the centres recorded 732 participations and visits (295 in October, 222 in November and 215 in December). The foundation’s monitoring shows the programme helps young people stabilise emotionally, rebuild trust and communication, and bring back room for calm and joy.
